Country Information

Accommodation:
All our hotels are excellent four and five star boutique hotels. We highly recommend our hotels as they have excellent services and facilities. All rooms have modern facilities, private bathrooms with double or twin beds.

Climate & Clothing:
In summer the weather in France is mild to warm, the temperature average between June and July is about 78°F - 26°C. Summers are relatively dry, but rain does occur all year round. The general rule is to bring comfortable clothing including lightweight cottons. Comfortable walking shoes are essential as is a light waterproof jacket. We provide a detailed packing list to all our guests prior to departure.

Currency & Money Matters:
The official currency in France is EURO (€). On January 1, 2002, the Euro became the official currency for 300 million Europeans, in use in 12 countries of the European Union. Traveller’s Cheques can be exchanged at some banks and currency exchange offices, but are not as welcome as cash or credit cards. ATMs are widely available in major cities and tourist areas.

Electricity:
The electrical current in France is 220 volts AC, 50Hz. The European two-pin plug is standard.

Insurance:
You must obtain Comprehensive Travel Insurance as a condition of travelling with Boutique Tours & Travel. We recommend that you purchase insurance at the time of Booking. Boutique Tours & Travel offers Travel Insurance at a competitive rate; enquiries welcome.

Language:
French is the official language, but English is widely understood in the main tourist areas.

Meals:
Our hotels offer a wonderful selection of dishes at their buffet breakfasts and we include a wide variety of both menu and venue for our lunches.

Medical Services & Facilities:
Our hotels have access to a doctor if required. They can also assist guests with purchasing of medicine. The international hospitals in France are very good and have western trained medical and surgical specialists. Dental care is also available.

Passports & Visas:
To enter France you require a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry and with at least two blank pages. No visa is required for tourists.

Pre & Post Tour Accommodation:
Boutique Tours & Travel suggests that you may like to arrive a day before the start of your tour to allow time to relax and refresh. You are also very welcome to linger longer after the tour is completed.
Boutique Tours & Travel has negotiated special overnight rates at this hotel for both pre and post tour accommodation. Please ask for details at time of booking. Local tour guides are also available on request.

Solo Traveller:
We welcome single travellers and we are able to arrange single accommodation. We negotiate strongly to keep single supplements at a reasonable cost. If you wish to share a room, we will endeavour to match you with another single guest and adjust the costs accordingly and refund any costs after you return home. We accept no responsibility for the suitability of a room partner.

Special Requests:
Specific requests such as adjacent or connecting rooms, bedding requests, smoking or non-smoking rooms and special dietary needs or any other arrangement should be advised at time of booking. Please note that every effort will be made to secure your special request; however, they cannot always be guaranteed.

We generally use modern luxury minibuses for tours. We also walk where and when it’s suitable. TVG train as noted

Our hotels offer bottled water and bottled water is provided throughout the day when transferrin between cities. Alcoholic beverages are not included in the cost of this tour.

Full Itinerary

Day 1:    Welcome to Paris:

Bonjour and welcome to France. On arrival at the Charles de Gaulle airport in Roissy, your English-speaking chauffeur will greet you. Enjoy a private transfer to your lovely boutique design 4* centrally located hotel in the heart of Paris near the Opera or in St. Germain. Both have undergone major renovations, providing the most modern conveniences with old world charm. (Other options and upgrades available.) Enjoy the rest of your day at your leisure.

 

Day 2:    Customized tour in Paris:     (B)

Today, choose one of the following included activities, such as:

§  A private professionally guided tour of Paris including a private visit at a major museum such as the Louvre or Musee d’Orsay.

§  A local market visit followed by a special small group cooking class with a local chef

§  A small group foodie tour of St. Germain or the Marais to discover the best culinary spots with a local expert

Other options available, as well.

Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. Enjoy evening on own.

 

Day 3:    Paris on own:    (B)

Today is yours to explore and discover Paris on your own.

A professional bilingual guide and or tickets to a museum are available on request. (Extra cost)

 

Day 4:    Paris to Champagne:     (B/L)

This morning check out of your hotel before your private transfer to the train station, Board your TVG First Class journey to the Champagne region Arrive around noon at the train station, where you’ll be greeted by your English-speaking, wine expert.  Begin your tour with a welcome lunch featuring specialties of the region. Continue your private wine tour, which will highlight the best the region has to offer. After spending the afternoon touring, check into your 4 or 5* Luxury Hotel, Relais and Chateau member property, or Chateau Hotel, and enjoy an evening on own. We will provide recommendations for dining based on your preferences, and we will make reservations for you at your hotel should you choose to dine there.

 

Day 5: VIP Champagne Tastings:    (B/L)

Today we embark on a full day of wine touring. You will be hosted as VIP guests at some of the most impressive estates of the region of choice, chosen especially for you based on your wine preferences or specific requests. This morning, enjoy 1-2 tours and tastings with your wine expert guide. Pause as you enjoy a lunch filled with local specialties of the region. Continue on your explorations with another tour and tasting before returning to your hotel for an evening on own.

 

Day 6:  VIP Champagne Tastings – Return to Paris:    (B/L)

Another full day of guided touring with your wine expert awaits you. We will customize your day to suit your preferences. We will either continue on with wine discoveries with your wine expert. Or if you prefer, you may wish to enjoy some free time on your own for shopping, spa treatments, or a city tour. You may also choose to have a cooking class with a local chef. If you would like to choose other activities today please let us know and we will be happy to accommodate your requests.  Enjoy lunch at a favourite of the locals of the region.

Later this afternoon, transfer to the train station and return to Paris.

 

 

Continue your journeys with fond memories of your Taste Paris and the Champagne Region. (If flying home the next day, we recommend you stay at the Sheraton in the airport.)
